Would you like to do an Internship at Free We Grow?
Free We Grow receives a lot of interest from teachers and others who would like to volunteer with us to learn more about our approach to education. We look forward to welcoming experienced and new teachers as well as others to our project. We are located in the lovely Dacres Wood Nature Reserve in Forest Hill, South East London.
Internships at Free We Grow are useful for those wanting to make their daily work with children more democratic or those who want to set up a project where self-directed and democratic learning is the focus. We are also interested in learning from our interns and gaining new insights into our own practice.
If you are interested in doing an internship with us please send us an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org and include the following:
- Your motivations for applying,
- How the internship will be useful to you and your own practice in working with children, and
- Your interest in children’s self-directed and democratic education.
- Kindly include your CV, or portfolio, a cover letter and a reference.
We encourage applicants to attend open days or information evenings to get a feel for our space. All events are listed in the News section of our website and on our Facebook page. You may then be contacted for a telephone conversation or invited to visit Dacres Wood Nature Reserve and meet the team.
Following this step, you will be invited to spend one full trial day at Dacres’ Wood. We require you to have a current DBS (Criminal Records Check hyperlink) https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/disclosure-and-barring-service . We cannot guarantee you a room to stay but we can make enquires with our families on your behalf.
This is an unpaid internship but we do pay for limited benefits (reasonable travel and lunch expenses). For more information on your rights as an intern, please see this guidance: https://www.gov.uk/employment-rights-for-interns.
We look forward to your application!
